Probiotics - The word probiotic is derived from Greek and means “for life”, as opposed to antibiotics which means “against life”. Probiotics are defined as live microorganisms, which when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host. In order to provide these health benefits, probiotics must be alive at the time of consumption and when they reach the gut. At present, most known probiotic organisms are bacteria, belonging to the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium genera. Bifidobacterium Lactis is the most studied and clinically researched species of Bifidobacterium. It helps to strengthen barrier functions in the gut enhancing defenses, it also helps nurture by aiding the absorption of various vitamins and minerals. These abilities, explain why this probiotic is known for promoting digestive wellness, including diarrhea, constipation, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, as well as other benefits to human health. Lactobacillus Rhamnosus is a type of bacteria found in our intestines. Uniquely adapted to survive the acidic and alkaline conditions in your body, this bacterium can also adhere to and colonize the walls of your gut. Such properties give it a better chance of survival. Its health benefits include balancing intestinal microbiota, relieving irritated bowel syndrome symptoms, treating diarrhea, strengthening your gut health, and protecting against cavities.
Vitamin A contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system, helps maintain normal vision, skin and mucous membranes. It also contributes to normal iron metabolism.
