Paradoxically, the valuable effect of adding crushed root to food was first felt by our pets. For more than 10 years, manufacturers of ready-made cat and dog food have been adding a small amount of Yucca to the recipe.

What for? Believe me, the effect is noticeable, and it's hard to say who is more grateful... animals or their owners. The fact is that a microscopic dose of supplement added on a regular basis significantly reduces the smell of excrement and stabilizes the stool.

YUCCA SHIDIGERA: USEFUL PROPERTIES

The Indians knew all about this type of agave several centuries ago. For them, it was a remedy for certain ailments, and they also washed their hair with powder made from the root. It helped with dandruff and baldness. Yukka picture

At this point, the Europeans had a confusion, which began because of the similarity in the names of two representatives of the American flora. On the territory of Mexico, the cassava root crop (a high-calorie carbohydrate product) is widely used. In fact, it replaces potatoes for local residents.

The edible manioc shrub (Manihot esculenta) has nothing in common with the agaves we are Interested in. But in some tribes it was called "Yuca", hence the confusion started because of the Spanish conquerors.

The indigenous people of Central America used the root of the agave tree, but not as a food product. Analysis of its chemical composition shows the following:

  • It has saponins in large quantities. There's a wide range of steroid glycosides (there are 13 of them). These components affect the level of the hormone called cortisol.
  • Polyphenols. In addition to the well-known resveratrol, there are specific flavonoids with high antioxidant activity.

Yucca Schidigera extract is a natural herbal medicine with targeted activity against:

  • bacteria and microbes in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • inflammatory processes in the musculoskeletal system;
  • respiratory disease;
  • urogenital infections;
  • free radicals and aging.

Yucca Schidigera can be used in the treatment of arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, and rheumatism. The extract relieves unpleasant symptoms of flatulence, colitis, malabsorption syndrome.
