WHAT IS LACTOSE INTOLERANCE?
Lactose, also known as "milk sugar", is a complex carbohydrate that makes up about 2-8% of the dry weight of milk. We need lactose mainly in infancy, and therefore it is not uncommon for the body, as an adult, to no longer produce lactose, a enzyme that breaks down lactose, and to develop lactose intolerance.
