The bark of this Pacific Coast tree contains unique compounds that gently but effectively promote regular bowel movements. Each capsule contains 450 mg of pure cascara sagrada bark.

The active substance that has a laxative effect on the intestines is anthraquinone, contained in cascara bark. Bowel movement occurs 8-10 hours after taking cascara. Both traditional and scientific medicine use cascara as a laxative. Under the influence of digestive enzymes, anthraquinone is destroyed to form emodin and chrysaphanic acid, which stimulates irritation of mucosal receptors and increases colon motility, while the mucous membrane of the rest of the intestine is not irritated.

Ingredients: Gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose (vegetable fiber), magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide.
