What is Astaxanthin?
Astaxanthin is a naturally occurring pigment known as carotenoids. It is carotenoids which turns sea creatures such Salmon and even Flamingoes pink through eating a diet rich of Astaxanthin.

Carotenoids contain powerful antioxidant properties known to benefit health. The body needs both water and lipid soluble antioxidants to support its defense against free radicals and maintain the immune system.

The main source of Astaxanthin is found in an microalgae called Haematococcus pluvialis often cultivated from the waters of Hawaii. This algae is also consumed by many sea creatures such as Salmon, Krill and Artic Schrimp. The best obtainable source for your diet is wild Pacific Salmon, although large amounts would need to be consumed to obtain the same benefits that a supplement may offer.
