Silymarin (Milk Thistle, Silybum marianum) is another herb that has been used by traditional herbalists for many centuries.
Scientific studies suggest that the silymarin has positive effect on healthy liver and gall bladder function. Its antioxidant effects also support healthy immunity and healthy heart function.
Fruits from silymarin can be steeped and made into tea. However besides the fact that the boiling water destroyes majority of active substances, it is often a problem to steep silymarin properly. Therefore it can be a more practical alternative to use extract from this plant in a form of dietary supplement.
