Red yeast rice is a natural product that has been used by Asian traditional herbalists since approximately 800 A.D. Produced by fermenting red yeast (Monascus purpureus) with white rice, red yeast rice is commonly used in cooking applications to enhance the color and flavor of foods. Peking duck is an example of the coloration and flavor imparted by red yeast rice. NOW^® Red Yeast Rice is carefully produced to avoid the presence of citrinin, an unwanted by-product of the fermentation process.

Concentrated 10:1 Extract

The uniqueness of yeast rice is that it is not subjected to grinding, therefore, its red-brown shell is preserved intact, which is enriched with nutrients, namely:

essential amino acids.
phosphorus and iron.
with iodine and potassium.
magnesium and calcium.
B vitamins.
vegetable fibers.
starch.

Red yeast rice is characterized by the following useful properties:

It activates lipid metabolism and removes excess from the body.
It has an antioxidant effect.
It protects cells from destructive processes.
It has an anti-atherosclerotic effect.
It prevents the development of tumor formations.
It acts as a preventive agent of heart attack, stroke, and cholesterol plaques.
