Haya Labs St. John's Wort 450 mg 120 Tabs

St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) is one of the most popular herbs sold today. It was first used for medicinal purposes in ancient Greece. In past times it was used as a "protection against evil spirits," and as a cure to heal wounds.

Today it is used in Europe as a cure for treating mild to moderate forms of depression and toning agent for nerve anxiety. In a study with 20 random tests on ambulatory patients suffering from mild to moderate forms of depression, the results indicated that Hypericum perforatum proved more effective influence in comparison with placebo and show comparable efficacy to some standard antidepressants. Scientists suggest that the effect of improving mood is due to two compounds of the herb - hypericin, and hyperforin. It is believed that these compounds can inhibit the degradation of several neurotransmitters, including serotonin, which is partly responsible for the control of mood and emotion.
