Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a perennial tropical herb belonging to the ginger (Zingiberaceae) family. It is primarily known as one of the oldest spices in Southeast Asia. The rhizome of turmeric has a golden yellow color, because of containing the natural dye called curcumin. The rhizome used as a drug supports the nervous system, heart and blood circulation, helps maintain the health of the liver, bones and joints, and keeps the immune system active. In addition, it has important antioxidant properties and helps to control inflammatory processes.

Black pepper (Piper nigrum) is also one of the most widely used everyday spices in the world. Peppercorns contain various plant compounds and the most important of those is piperine, which also gives the pepper its characteristic sharp taste. Black pepper supports the immune system and has antioxidant, antiparasitic and antimicrobial properties. In addition, it stimulates the nervous system, supports breathing and helps to maintain the natural functions of the digestive tract. By promoting the circulation of fine blood vessels and capillaries, black pepper helps to support skin and liver functions.
